So this was one of two books I bought for the English 6-12 for Florida’s Teacher Cert Exams. I passed. Using this book and the XAM book, I studied for a few nights prior to taking the test. This was the better of the two books (XAM stinks). This book does a good job of outlining and summarizing all the areas of the test. However, the way the test questions are prepared, studying this book does not help you much. That is, you could memorize this book and still not pass the test. Likewise, I feel like I could have not studied either book and passed. The questions are really complex and confusing and seem to have little relation to the subject. Instead, they are more about trying to sort out what is being asked. “All of the following are examples of _____ Except _____ including _____.” Nothing in the book prepared me for the test, though again it does a decent job of summarizing the subject of English. So, if you’re anal about studying and need something to work from, this is better than XAM. However, you may just want to take the test cold…not sure it’ll be much different for you. Good luck!
